Established with an aim to protect the Nilgiri Tahr, the Eravikulam Park is situated in Devikulam Taluk of the Idukki District. Its name means the tuft of an elephant and refers to the hairy top of an elephant's head. The Park was declared as a sanctuary in 1975 and a National Park in 1978.

Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is known for its good tiger population in south india wildlife sanctuaries. This wildlife sanctuary is located in Uttara Kannada district in south Indian state of Karnataka. Spread over an area of 475 Km2 this place is a home for many animal and plant species.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is located at a distance of 18 Km from Devikulam and Marayoor in Kerala. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 1187 Km2 and is one of the twelve protected areas of south india wildlife sanctuaries.

Situated at a height of 5,091 feet above sea level, south india wildlife Sanctuary spreads over an area of 540 sq. kms. and is situated between the Cauvery and Tungabhadra rivers in Karnataka. About 80 kms from Mysore, the picturesque hill range has rich variety of flora and fauna with heaving hills and valleys covered in deciduous forests and Sholas.

Around four km from Kumily and 100 km from Kottyam in Kerala is located the protected area and natural reserve, Periyar. This protected area is spread over an area of 925 km² in the mountainous region of Cardamom hills. Periyar has a core zone of about 350 Km² which is known worldwide as Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve.

Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary lies in Nilgiri Hills between south Indian states of Karnataka and Kerala. Mudumalai is one of the first wildlife sanctuaries in south india established in India. This sanctuary is spread over an area of 321 sq Km and is divided into five ranges which are Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota.

Nagarhole National Park is situated at a distance of 96 Km from Mysore in Karnataka. This park, which is also known as "Rajiv Gandhi National Park" is spread over an area of 643 sq Km.

Eravikulam National Park is known for its rich flora and fauna in all national parks in south india; however the natural beauty of this region is equally impressive. The National Park is located in Iddukki district of Kerala. The park is spread over an area of 97 Km2. It amazes every visitor by the panoramic views of the nature it offers.

Established in 1973, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the south Indian state of Kerala. Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is the second largest sanctuary in Kerala and is extremely rich in flora and fauna.
