Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams -
Mudrapuzha, Nallathani & Kundala. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft and 1600
Mts to 1800 Mts above sea level in Idukki district, Kerela, Munnar was once
the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India.
Climate :
The climate in Munnar is pleasant throughout the year. Summers (AprilJune)
are mild, while winters (NovemberFebruary) are cool. The best time to
visit Munnar is between the months of October to March.

» Devikulam - 7 kms from Munnar, this hill station
with carpeted lawns, exotic flora and fauna and misty air is a fascinating
experience. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque
environs is a good picnic spot. The lake is also ideal for fishing.
» Pallivasal - A place of enormous scenic beauty,
Pallivasal is about 8 kms from Munnar and is venue of the first
Hydro-Electric Project in Kerela.
» Attukal - Amidst panoramic waterfalls and rolling
hills, the place is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks.
» Eravikulam National Park - 15 kms from Munnar, the
97 sq. km park is situated in the Devikulam Taluk and is home to the nilgiri
tahr. The Anamudi peak (2695 m) is located in the southern region of the
park.
» Pothamedu - Situated around 6 kms from Munnar,
Pothamedu is one of the major plantation hubs of the city. The views of
coffee, tea and cardamom plantations are excellent from here. It is also an
ideal place for trekking and hiking.
» Anaimudi - Anaimudi (2,695 m), the highest peak in
southern India, can be viewed from Munnar.
» Marayoor - Marayoor is 42 km from Munnar to east
of the Evarikulam National Park. One can experience the peaceful ambience
and beauty of a sandalwood forest here.
