Situated around 200 kilometers South of Chennai, Pondicherry is today a

The nearest airport is at Madras, which is 160 kms. away. Pondicherry has
direct rail connections with Madras. And there are excellent roads
connecting Pondicherry with Tamil Nadu.

» Festivals - The diversity of Pondicherry is a
reflection of the colourful festivals celebrated here. Pongal the harvest
festival in January, Bastille Day in July, Sri Aurobindo's Birth anniversary
on Aug 15th. Fete de Pondicherry on Aug 15-17th with the brilliantly lit
Park monument and the standard festivals like Ganesha Puja, Dussehra,
Christmas, Diwali etc. are celebrated with much verve and vigour.
» Beaches - The splendid beaches of Pondicherry have
cool and soothing water and creamy sand. Many resorts, cottages, cafes and
bars command an excellent view of the sea. Some of the famous beaches are
Serenity Beaches, Paradise Beach, Karaikal Beach, Mahe Beach, Yanam River
Cruise and many other beaches.
