Day 01 :Cochin
You are greeted an arrival at the Cochin International Airport/Railway
Station by our Tour Executive and transferred to your hotel. Afternoon sight
seeing by boat visiting, Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, St:Francis Church,
Chinese fishing nets and Bolgatty Palace. Overnight at Cochin.
Day 02 :Kumarakum
Early morning, depart for Kumarakom (125 kms - 4 hrs), arrival at noon
time. Check into your hotel. Afternoon, visit to neighbouring places.
Overnight at Hotel. Kumarakom is a unique backwater destination situated on
the banks of Vembanad lake. Kumarakom bird sanctuary is a favourite haunt of
migratory birds from across the world which makes it a renowned bird
watching centre.
Day 03 : Alleppey
After a leisurely breakfast you will travel by private motor boat around
the Kumarakom area and across Vembanad lake to Alleppey. Your boat will take
you directly to the jetty of Punnamada Backwater Resort.In the afternoon you
have the opportunity to take a Heritage Tour of Alleppey. Overnight at
Punnamada Resort.
Day
04 :Quilion
Morning relaxing and at 12 noon your Houseboat will pick you up from the
Resort jetty and you will travel first around the small canals of Alleppey
and then continue south toward Quilon (Kollam) The houseboats are giant
country Crafts, measuring up to 80 feet length. It took great skill and
meticulousness to construct these giants by tying huge planks of jack wood
together, without the use of a single nail. Today these offer a unique way
to relax and see the visual splendour of nature and the daily activities of
the local people.Each houseboat has either one or two bedrooms , each with
their own bathroom, an open lounge, deck, kitchenette and a crew comprising
oarsmen, a cook and guide. The bedrooms are fitted with fans and mosquito
nets. There are also Air conditioned Houseboats available for trips on some
routes. The trip to Alumkadavu ( the Houseboat jetty closest to Quilon) can
be enjoyed over one or two days.
Day 05 :Kovalam
Morning, it is the time to bid farewell and disembark your Houseboat after
breakfast. From Quilon it is a 2.5 hr drive to Trivandrum airport. You can
also continue your journey to the beach at Kovalam or up into the hills of
Periyar.
